STILL HERE

Still Here.

One of my poems on loss.

I know we are as one, despite
the passing of the years.
I sense you think of me, as I do you.
I feel your presence in my heart
You are still here.

I see you in the bluest skies;
in a hazy morning's sun.
On a balmy summer evening,
or blackest pitch of night.
You are still here.

On waking in the morning;
to a blackbird's cheerful song.
I think of you - we are as one;
though parted all these years,
You are still here.

When I stood before this place
You were no longer there.
Ashes, dust and earth may be,
but you live on, in my heart.
You are still here.
